Build in Public Highlight: RedReplier and the Reddit Discovery Problem
A founder's reflection on why Reddit became harder to ignore, and why valuable channels often need better workflows before we use them consistently.
The Channel Everyone Knows About
There is a strange thing that happens when you start building products.
You learn very quickly that distribution is not just a separate skill from building. It has a different rhythm. Building gives you a clean feedback loop. You write code, ship something, fix what breaks, and the product slowly becomes more real.
Finding people who might need it is less clean.
Reddit is one of those channels that almost every founder mentions at some point. It has specific communities, honest conversations, people asking for help, and a lot of context that does not exist on more polished platforms. When someone writes a detailed post about a problem inside a subreddit, it often feels much closer to real demand than a keyword in an SEO tool.
But knowing that does not make Reddit easy to use.

Why Reddit Feels More Important Now
Over the last few years, I have noticed Reddit showing up in more places.
When I search on Google, Reddit threads appear constantly. When I look for honest opinions about tools, I often add "reddit" to the search without thinking. When people are tired of landing pages and polished case studies, they go looking for conversations that feel less prepared.
There is another layer now too. AI chat tools are increasingly shaped by the public web, and Reddit has become one of the places where a lot of raw product opinions, comparisons, and problem descriptions live. I do not think about that as a shortcut, but it does make the conversations there feel more durable than a normal social post.

A Channel Full of Context
That makes Reddit interesting for founders, but also delicate.
It is not a place where you can arrive with a generic pitch and expect people to care. The useful parts of Reddit come from context. Someone explains their situation, other people respond, and the value is hidden inside that messy human detail.
That is probably why it keeps pulling founders back. It feels close to the market. Not in an abstract way, but in the simple sense that real people are already talking about the things they are struggling with.
The interesting part: Reddit is valuable because it is messy. The same thing that makes it hard to scan is what makes the conversations feel real.
The Hard Part Is Consistency
The problem is that using Reddit consistently is harder than it sounds.
I can tell myself that I should check relevant subreddits every day. I can save a few searches, follow a few communities, and keep a browser tab open with good intentions. For a few days, that works.
Then I get busy.
I ship something, fix a bug, answer messages, think about content, look at analytics, and suddenly Reddit becomes one more thing I know I should be doing but do not actually do.
The Gap Between Knowing and Doing
This gap is common in product building. There are channels that work in theory, but the workflow around them is too manual to become a habit. The value is there, but the friction quietly wins.
It is not that founders ignore Reddit because they do not understand it. Many ignore it because finding the right conversations takes time, and most searches lead nowhere. You can spend an hour reading threads and leave with nothing useful. Or you can miss the exact conversation where someone was looking for what you are building.
That inconsistency is the real cost.
When a Product Appears From Friction
I recently came across RedReplier, built by @tarasshyn, and what caught my attention was not a long list of features. It was the shape of the problem it is trying to reduce.
The idea is simple enough to understand: founders know there are relevant conversations happening on Reddit and other platforms, but manually finding them every day is boring, slow, and easy to forget.
Products like RedReplier usually appear when a workflow is valuable but tedious. Nobody needs to be convinced that talking to people with a real problem is useful. The harder part is creating a system where those conversations do not depend entirely on memory, mood, or luck.
That is an interesting category of product to me.

Keeping the Human Part Human
Not because it replaces the human part. Actually, the human part is the point. The founder still has to read the conversation, understand the context, and reply like a real person. If anything, the product exists because the replying part should remain human, while the searching part can be made less painful.
There is a quiet lesson there.
Sometimes the best product ideas are not about inventing a new behavior. They come from noticing a behavior that people already believe in, but fail to repeat because the surrounding workflow is too heavy.
What I Am Taking From It
I do not see this as a story about one marketing channel.
For me, it is more about the distance between knowing and doing. Founders often know what would help: talk to users, write more, follow up, study search intent, participate in communities, notice repeated pain.
The hard part is turning that knowledge into a daily motion.
That is why I like paying attention to products like RedReplier. They remind me that many useful tools are born in the space between a good intention and a repeated action.
As I keep building my own products, I want to get better at spotting that space. Not only in other people's workflows, but in mine too.
Because sometimes the thing worth building is hiding inside the task everyone agrees matters, but almost nobody manages to do consistently.
